Cirque de Soleil

Review a Cirque de Soleil Media Kit.
a. Visit http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/press/kits/shows.aspx
b. Select a show and then review the supplementary media for each show. Specifically, review the Press Kit which is a downloadable PDF.
c. Identify the elements that comprise the Press Kit and reflect on how you might incorporate them into a story.

I chose Totem from the list provided and went to the media release area.

The Media Release or Press Kit is a PDF Download that is jam packed with 17 pages of illustrations, pictures and information.  The kit starts with a basic overview, then gives two pages of the different acts including vivid imagery and facts.  One page is dedicated to the main characters (information and images) and following this, on the next two pages, are the main character's costumes, and the set design and projections.

The next eight pages are dedicated to Creators’ Biographies and then there is a one page grab of fast facts.  At the very end of the document there are four pages dedicated to Cirque de soleil and other acts that are upcoming.

There is more than enough information to make a very interesting article about the upcoming performance from any angle you wanted to take.  Whether it be a feature on one of the performers, or Totem itself.

Besides the press kit, on the site there are links to other areas of interest.  Some are available to all visitors, others require a log in.  They are:

  • Preview the show
  • Visit Official Website
  • News releases
  • Press Contacts
  • Photos & Videos

The Video link that gives viewers a preview of the show can be found here but it is unlisted so it could not be embedded into a news article.  I can only assume that once you had logged into the site you would have access to video and images that can be embedded.
