Inquiry: Review the following two pieces

What do you think could be the main issues with this poorly written entertainment news story?:

Robert Pattinson talks about his new film, The Rover, with Dave O'Neil (News Story Poor)

1 - There doesn't seem to be any time order. The article jumps backwards and forwards in time (Whitaker, et al., 2012, p. 114).

"After a few hours together we’re practically good mates” to "Dean comes in first, checks the exits, liaises with the bar’s security and then finally gives the OK for Rob to enter (O'Neil, 2014)."

2 - The heading of the article promises prominence. It is "Robert Pattinson talks about his new film, The Rover, with Dave O'Neil", however I have read the entire post and I am still not sure where, or even IF the film is discussed (Ames, K., 2014a).
Dave O'Neil  (Author)

3 - There is no Who, What, Where, When, Why and How that relates to the heading of the article.  I am not actually sure what the article is about (Ames, K., 2014b).

Is it:

  • Dean the bodyguard?
  • Famous Aussie Actors (name dropping)?
  • The movie "Twilight" and its surprise success?
  • The Author?

No idea.

4 – Even the image gives no indication of the article's subject.  Or does it? From the image I would assume that the article is about the author.

What do you think is good about this well-written media release?:

Leading agribusiness panel to analyse rural resilience at 360 Roma:

1 - There is consistency.  The lead sentence expands on the heading providing the reader with the important information (Ames, K., 2014b). .  Let me break it up for you:
"Some of Queensland’s leading agribusiness minds Who will join at the AgForce 360 Series What event in Roma Where next week when for an in depth panel discussion on business resilience within the rural sector why (Milner, 2014)."
2 - Directly after the summary news lead, there is the benefit statement that is backed up with a quote by the AgForce Chief Executive Officer, Charles Burke (Whitaker, et al., 2012, p. 300).

"AgForce Chief Executive Officer, Charles Burke, said the panel would seek to provide a snapshot of  the existing financial and planning challenges faced by rural businesses as well as examples of alternatives and solutions delivered using a case study platform.
“We know many people are doing it tough financially in the sector due to a number of factors
including drought, spiralling input costs and the legacy of poor government policy and decisions,” Mr Burke said."

3 - Following this is an Action Statement that rounds out the basic elements of the news release (Whitaker, et al., 2012, p. 300).
"The panel will be only one session in a program of quality speakers secured for the 360 Roma Event with a range of other topics relevant to modern primary production to be focused upon."

4 - The News Release provides background information and contact details of the AgForce media and communications personal (Whitaker, et al., 2012, p. 300).

"For media enquiries, contact AgForce media and communications: Stacey Milner 0418 733 102 or milners@agforceqld.org.au Nadine Long 0427 626 853 or longn@agforceqld.org.au
